Like many, we received our new bus pass shortly after April 1st 2008. This, we knew, enabled us to travel throughout England for no cost as long as we stuck to the rules.

A quick search on the Internet, a quick Google, produced no substantial information apart from that issued by many local authorities throughout the country.

Hence "Bus Pass Heaven" which will now be your one-stop shop for anything and everything to do with the new style bus passes. Here you will find details from all local authorities, here you will find the best way to travel around and here you will find favorite routes and bus trips submitted by other "Bus Pass Heaven" members. Join the forum and share info and trips with others but... most of all, ENJOY

Norfolk 24-hour bus passes reinstated for blind people

Council leaders in Norfolk have decided to reinstate 24-hour concessionary bus passes for blind and partially-sighted people.

The county council originally axed the all-day concession last year, blaming a £4.5m shortfall in government funding.

It meant eligible people could only travel after 09:30.

Reinstating the 24-hour scheme is expected to cost the council an extra £51,000 on top of its £11m budget for concessionary transport.

Latest News - Changes to concessionary bus fare schemes

The latest news that we have is that as from April 1st 2011 most councils and bus operators will be scrapping any concessions that they did apply to the national bus pass scheme so that as from April 1st
on week-days before 9.30am and after 11.00pm, normal fares will apply, bringing the all schemes into line with existing national arrangements.

If you know of any special local concessions that will still apply to your area then please let us know by emailing us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Coach 50% discount concession going PDF Print

As part of its austerity measures the present government is removing the coach concessionary discount scheme on Monday 31st October 2011.

This move will hit many over 60's in the pocket as many travel on coaches to see family and friends in far-off cities and towns and we are asking that if you will be affected then write to your MP expressing your concerns with the Department for Transport.

The following link to the National Coach web site includes links to a standard letter of complaint that you can download as well as giving details of how you can still travel at 50% discount up until 31st August 2012 as long as you book before midnight on 31st October 2011.

Around 100 people filled a church hall to call for their estate bus service to be saved from the axe.

Residents from the Kingsway area of Wellingborough met at the Kingsway Methodist Church on Friday night to voice their concerns about plans to cut the W3 bus route.

The service currently runs every half-an-hour and follows a route to the town centre, but it is set to be scrapped in May.
