Brighton & Hove is probably the best bus company in England. They operate most of the services in the urban area of Brighton and Hove and these are the most frequent and comprehensive in Britain, outside of London.

Many routes in the city are very interesting, offering steep hills and breathtaking views, but Brighton and Hove also operate some excellent country routes too. In particular - Route 12/12a Brighton - Eastbourne via Rottingdean, Newhaven and Seaford. A busy double-decker every 10 minutes (astonishing frequency!). 2 per hour operate as route 12a and run via Beachy Head and Birling Gap. Really super sea views.

The 12 takes about 80 mins and the 12a about 90 mins. Also routes 29 & 29a Brighton - Tunbridge Wells via Lewes, Uckfield and Crowborough. Attractive ride through Sussex countryside. Double deckers every 30 mins, taking about 105 mins. Brighton & Hove website www.buses.co.uk
