Concession Fares Changes for 1st April 2011

On Friday 1st April 2011, the free travel scheme for Elderly and Disabled passengers moves from being provided by district councils to be provided by county and unitary councils. This should reduce the amount of different start times that exist in the current scheme, as all districts in a county will now have the same rules. The following information sets out the rules for each area on weekdays. As with the previous scheme travel is allowed at all times on weekends and bank holidays. It will take some time for the county councils to re-issue passes and we will continue to accept passes with district names on them. The following information also includes a handy guide to which district passes apply to which county.

Companion Passes
Some passes will have a C+ logo on them, these allow the holder to take a companion with them free of charge. This benefit is usually restricted to district in which the pass is issued.
The times and journeys that a pass holder can take a companion with them are detailed for each scheme.

At all other times and for all other journeys the passes have the same validity as a disabled pass and are valid for the holder ONLY. The holder of a companion pass does not have to take a companion on every trip and may, if they wish, travel alone.

Concession Pass Exemptions
Concession passes are not valid on the following services: N700, Goodwood Race Meetings, Farnborough Airshow.

Companions: No companion passes issued.
Brighton & Hove Concessionary Scheme

Visiting OAP: 09:30 until 23:00 (not valid on N700)
Local Disabled: 09:00 to end of service (not valid on N700)
Visiting Disabled: 09:30 until 23:00 (not valid on N700)
Companions:  No companion passes issued.
Hampshire Concessionary Scheme

Passes accepted: Hampshire, Basingstoke & Deane, East Hampshire, Eastleigh, Fareham, Gosport, Hart, Havant, New Forest, Rushmoor, Test Valley, Winchester
Local OAP: 09:00 until 23:00
Visiting OAP: 09:30 until 23:00
Local Disabled: All day
Visiting Disabled: 09:30 until 23:00
Companions: All day, journeys beginning in Hampshire or Wiltshire only.
Portsmouth Concessionary Scheme

Passes accepted: Portsmouth
Local OAP: 09:30 until 23:00
Visiting OAP: 09:30 until 23:00
Local Disabled: 09:30 until 23:00 (passes issued to blind residents are valid all day)
Visiting Disabled: 09:30 until 23:00
Companions: 09:30 until 23:00 or all day for blind passes weekdays, all day weekends, only valid for journeys within Portsmouth.
