Park and ride scheme goes green PDF Print E-mail

The park and ride scheme in Durham is to become cleaner and greener, councillors have announced.

From early January, the buses will trial new technology aimed at reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions, as well as making them quieter.

The county council is supporting the Advanced Thermal Management System fuel efficiency project, developed by Comesys Europe Ltd of Cramlington.

Mayor's Freedom Pass questioned PDF Print E-mail

Critics of London Mayor Boris Johnson say his election campaign pledge to expand the Freedom Pass for elderly transport users is not as promised.

Mr Johnson's Liberal Democrat opposition say the passes, also available to disabled people, are still restricted on Network Rail's trains.

Assembly member Caroline Pidgeon said the scheme was also likely to cost local boroughs millions of pounds.

Bus Pass Rules Have Changed PDF Print E-mail

 

Since 1 April 2008, eligible users have been entitled to free off-peak travel on local buses anywhere in England.

Are you Eligible?

If you are resident in England and are aged 60 or over or are 'eligible disabled' you are entitled to England-wide concessionary bus travel.

Since 2006 you have been entitled to the statutory minimum concession of free local bus travel in your area from 9.30 am to 11.00 pm on Monday to Friday and at any time during weekends and public holidays - and this will continue. Since 1 April 2008 you are also entitled to free local bus travel in all other areas of England during these off-peak times.
